Emily Norton is one of my favorite people. In days, her first book, The Seven Longest Yards — written with her husband Chris Norton - will hit book shelves.

Emily’s story went viral when she helped her husband Chris walk across the stage for graduation… then again when she helped him walk down the wedding aisle. Their story has been shared in People Magazine, on Good Morning America, the Today show, CNN and many more.

Chris and Emily have been on the podcast before - where we talked about the football accident that paralyzed him from the neck down. Listen to it here.

This episode is different. I wanted to focus on Emily. Today we talk about something she hasn’t really talked about publicly until this book - her battle with depression.

She gets real here on the podcast AND in their book about why it took her so long to come to grips with the fact that she needed help, what life is like since getting help and what she’s learned from the experience.

The second half of this episode we focus on Emily’s incredible work with children in the foster care system. She and Chris have adopted FIVE kids now and still bring in foster children. I love hearing about why she does this, great tips to work with children from painful circumstances and why she believes she’s called to do this work.
